Powder Term is a five-week adventure for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders that’s physically, academically, and emotionally rigorous and fun. Powder Term is a place teens can escape the strains, pains, and distractions of everyday life and take part in an alternative education program designed around accelerated learning, developing mastery on the ski mountain, building self-awareness, confidence, leadership skills, and forming personal relationships that will last a lifetime.
The Skiing for Your Teen
A healthy mind and body elevate each other—and we believe the two are equally important. Our rigorous ski program gets teens off the couch and into the great outdoors for an invigorating and unforgettable experience, including:
20 days of coached skiing with world-class, expert instructors
Lessons tailored to any level of proficiency, from beginner to competitive
10 days of uncoached free skiing
Mountain access through nearby Purgatory Resort, featuring world-renowned trails and some of the most consistent, abundant snow in southwest Colorado
Best of all, participants get a chance to explore and expand their physical and mental limits as they experience the deep fulfillment that comes from pursuing mastery of a single skill.
Skiing Accommodations
Our campus is located at Black Diamond Lodge, which is tucked under the Hermosa Cliffs with a view of the Twilight Peaks and the surrounding forest. Only 5 minutes from Purgatory ski resort, Black Diamond Lodge is halfway between hip Durango and historic Silverton and just a mile south of the lifts at Purgatory Resort on the San Juan Scenic Skyway.

As educators, we recognize that every student is capable of academic excellence if given the right mix of challenge and agency. We provide hybrid courses that combine self-paced, adaptive learning platforms with Socratic, discussion-style learning.
